Ensuring skilled attendance at every birth and access to quality emergency obstetric care for timely management of complications are critical interventions to achieve programme goals. Keeping this in view, skill based training programme of SBA training for Staff Nurses, ANMs/LHVs was designed.
The training equips the Staff Nurses & Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (SNs/ANMs posted in the District Hospitals/CHC/PHC/SC) with the necessary skills to conduct delivery in a safe & hygienic manner, use certain drugs like misoprostol and magnesium sulphate and simple clinical judgement tools like partograph in obstetrical cases ensuring a favorable outcome for the mother & newborn.
The objective of this training is to upgrade skills of ANM/Staff Nurse posted in District Hospital/CHC/PHC to improve quality of intra-partum and new born care in institution and achieve better maternal and infant salvage.
SBA Training is a part of technical strategy for reduction of Maternal Mortality by giving universal access to skilled attendance at birth and timely access to quality services for timely management of life threatening obstetric complications.
